Beats Therapy 11

Danny Boy, I must say thank you so much for your time. I respect and appreciate you taking your time to read this. (cant seem to define what I even do!!!!). Anyways, straight to business. I usually love to start with the good news as they lay a foundation for the bad news.  I am going to start with Southern Africa.
One of the most influential factor in African Music is culture. Our culture is very diverse and rich, which is why we are seeing it on the international fashion shows of great and influential designers and labels. Southern Africa(I am forced to say this since most people think its only one country!) has great culture with the likes of Shaka Zulu, the lovely Swazi kingdom among others. But that s not the point unless you need me to voice out the fact that 3 quarters of the guys on the Face book friends' list have pictures of the beautiful Swazi -bare chested chics during their famous reed dance... AHA! BOYS WILL BE BOYS!
Leaving boobies aside, the one thing that draws me to this side of Africa is the ever popular House Music(not forgetting their crazzzy cool Hip Hop) sometimes called Afro House, sometimes Dance music, South African House is distinctly South African. Meaning what? OK, I am  going to put some noses out of joint by saying this but a lot of "international" House lacks a sense of place, and can sometimes sound like nothing but beats (Techno House is often guilty of this). Fine if you're some off-his-head teenager willing to dance to anything with a fast beat, but even then it probably gets a little weird. You will sometimes hear  samples from real traditional instruments (drums, in particular, something integral to African music), and heavier bass lines than you might find in House music from elsewhere. A track might use a harmony or melody from an old South African song, and the lyrics, minimal though they might be, will be about something people recognise, something political, humorous, traditional, celebratory, etc. It's party music, but it still ties in with South African identity and history, and has meaning beyond music. Here are some of my best artists from the down South. These guys get me thinking.. en I am like 'mehhnn , i wanna parrrrtttttyyyy!' The video quality is at another level, okkk it is the southern part and probably having a '2nd world' thing going on down there but seriously , these guys are great. They weirdly still manage to stick to their roots and incorporate them with the modern western world that we all adore and drool over!!!. ENJOY

Cabo Snoop  from Angola is Ivo Manuel Lemus, born on November 1, 1990.
This youngster is actually one of the nominees of the channel O most gifted male category where is he competing with the likes of dbanj, navio and other big names in the continent. I don't even remember what I was doing at the age of 21.. lol, please its not long ago but I mean the dude is being recognised out of the 1 million plus musicians , who by the way  have been singing all their lives!! (without mentioning names). AHHH, these are the times I kneel down and thank God I am not a musician , I cannot sing. I wonder how those other artists feel. (please , I am not trying to start a war) .
To support my belief in this dude, DJ Saz commented on the Channel O nominees of Most Gifted Mlae Art saying," I feel that Cabo Snoop is shoe in for this award. Why? Well with all the hype and popularity surrounding gang star/thug music and mentality, Cabo Snoop has reminded people that artists can still make ‘fun’ music with the sole purpose of providing entertainment and making anyone and everyone feel the need to get on their feet and Dance."
Cabo Snoop’s videos are  electric and energetic!
Really, who wouldn't dance to Professor 's jams. This guy is the bomb. I was very excited when I found out that he was also nominated in the same category above among others. The song nominated is Lento. One thing I love about this guy is the simplicity he is always portraying in his videos. The beats are great , he is just a genius!!!. One of ma South Africa's finest for sure!

This was talent .. nothing else but sadly passed away at a very tender age.Amelia was mostly known as Zim's Nicki Minaj died at 16 yrs just before launching her album

This is my all time best group. I totally love this group en for this song they super super nailed it. Listening to this song (I don't even know what they are saying) calms me down... the chorus is sooooooo dope.  This group has been around for a while now, but all their songs are hits. I just love them PERIOD...

Beats Therapy

One thing  I love about my generation is the ability to come up with words that never existed before. Oxford dictionaries are not as important. The invention of the URBAN DICTIONARY has swept in a new era. Nowadays , you can get online, add your own phrase or word to the famous dictionary and U'll see it being used all over twitter, face book and other struggling social networks. Looking at music. One thing for sure is that music to me is a way of life. I have not updated my blog for a while because 1) I was trying to re-discover myself.(I don't even think I know the meaning of this but it sounds serious so I might as well take the opportunity to introduce it to my vocabulary! 2) finalize university: I actually kinda miss Univ, I miss seeing guys staring at chics' chests and all the foolishness univ has to contain. 3) focus on becoming a year older. This is the last day of my birth month which means I am aging, and yet I have so much to do!!!
Leaving that aside, I really want to share my views on African music. Yes!!! I know I am African so it is obvious, but on a serious note, our music we as Africans is still struggling to make it to the top. Without saying much for now, I will be posting ma best and worst music videos of the week from all corners of Africa. My aim is to critize POSITIVELY and see to it that our music goes far and wide. I know you must be wondering if I am qualified to doing so. I solemnly stand firm and say that I have great taste  and this not only stretches to the opposite sex but also to all things entertainment. I am one of the few Africans who actually go to the music shops and libraries to purchase a complete original African album. We start from here tomorrow... NUFF SAID!!!

HAD TO!!!!

If you're dating a guy that you're crazy about, you are likely hoping he feels exactly the same way about you. Unfortunately that's not always the case and proclaiming your undying love, if he doesn't reciprocate the feelings, can lead to a lot of embarrassment and humiliation. If you are with a man that you believe is the one you are meant to be with, there are things you can do to increase your chances of him falling head over heels for you too. If you want to make your boyfriend fall in love with you remember there first and foremost to always be yourself.
Too many women, when they are trying to get a man to fall in love with them, become something they really aren't. If the man has a serious addiction to football, the woman trying to impress him, will suddenly fall in love with the game too. Although the man may appreciate her interest to begin with, it won't take long until he realizes that her adoration for the game is just a show that she's putting on for his benefit. If you want to make your boyfriend fall in love with you, don't suddenly become interested in everything that he enjoys. You'll be much more appealing if you pursue your own interests and if you're honest about your opinion about things.
Along that same line, many women want to please a man they are attracted to and in an effort to do so they'll let him make all the decisions. This includes where they should have dinner and even what movie to watch. If a woman constantly tells a man that she doesn't care what they do as long as they are together, he's going to become bored very quickly. Men love a woman with her own mind. If your boyfriend suggests a movie and you can't bear the thought of sitting through it, tell him. Give him an alternative choice and explain that you think he'll enjoy seeing the movie he wants with one of his guy friends. Don't be afraid to state your honest opinion. When you do you immediately become more interesting to him.
Don't constantly keep an eye on him either. If you two are out at a party or social gathering, don't watch him like a hawk. This is especially true if he's talking to another woman. If you want to make your boyfriend fall in love with you, you want to show him that you are very self-confident. Men love confidence in a woman, and if he catches your eye when he's talking to another girl just smile at him and go back to the conversation you are already having. Don't pout afterwards either. If you don't bring it up, you've instantly created a deeper attraction between the two of you. He'll love that you trust him and that you aren't the type of woman who gets jealous.
Being yourself is incredibly important if you want to make your boyfriend fall in love with you. Don't lose who you are while you are trying to capture his attention. If you do that, he may fall in love with you, but it won't be the real yOU.

FOR THE DUDEZZZZZZZZZ

This  season is the perfect opportunity to pull out a fresh pair of high-top kicks. The warm weather calls for a lighter color palette but, like with any shoe, the most important thing is comfort. Loosen up your gear by opting for shirts and trousers that are slightly more relaxed and put on a pair of kicks you can walk in and still be blister-free. Check out the picks here.
Raf Simons Crocodile Pocket

It seems Raf Simons can do no wrong this season and this crocodile-embossed leather sneaker reaffirms this notion. The high-top shoe also comes with a Velcro strap at the ankle and features a zip pocket at heel collar. Made in Italy, these kicks leave no detail undone.
Yves Saint Laurent Leather High Top

YSL’s white leather high top sneakers feature a Velcro ankle strap and contrasting brown sole and trimmings. The white shell’s made from nappa leather and lined with leather as well, providing comfort in its finest form.

Alexander McQueen for Puma

As long as you keep the design clean and deliver an outfit that’s a bit more welcoming, these kicks from Puma’s ongoing collaboration with Alexander McQueen should be a perfect compliment. $283,

Pierre Hardy

They say you get what you pay for and with this offering, you’re getting much more than the price. Pierre Hardy’s latest piece features a light grey that’s made from a soft jersey fabric and the shoe’s got an inner zip closure as well as contrasting white sole and a strap at the ankle.

Schott NYC x Converse

Converse teamed up with New York-based Schott, a brand most well known for its outerwear and leather jackets. This sneaker’s actually inspired by the iconic brand’s famous motorcycle jackets. Fine details include leather midsoles, zipper detailing on the uppers and matching leather toe caps. It’s available in a few different shells but this navy leather upper really stands out.

Seriously, even the dullest en most annoying dude can get away with wearing these foot candies.

Building The Ultimate Closet

It is (sort of) starting to look like the ultimate girl and with that in mind I have rounded up tips from the different fashion industry experts on how to prepare and get that ultimate closet that can take you through this season as seen on the runway and spreads of magazines.

  1. Stripes: The ubiquitous sailor stripe is not going anywhere.  Big bold stripes in jarring colors are the way to go, and the really daring will wear stripes with other stripes, patterns and lots of color. (P.S., get on this trend right away, because NEXT season is all about the polka dot!)

  2. Clutch: The It-bag is now the Was-bag. Get out your dust covers and store those big caryalls. The fashion flock this season was tucking their cellphones, Chanel lipsticks and fashion show invites into minimalist clutches for day. The bold and the beautiful are leaning towards clutches of similar description. cobalt blue, yelllow and orange. (Extra-credit: This Cobalt blue is THE go-to color for next season)

  3. Full Skirt: Worn by day, the long skirt—whether full or pleated—is completely at ease anywhere. I like to see this silhouette paired with flats; the juxtaposition of the two make it a more casual and languid look. Wear with an oversized blazer, a belted cardigan or even a bomber jacket to complete the look.

  4. Neon: Many fashion insiders compare Fashion Weeks to a traveling circus.... This season, the colors definitely resemble the Big Top. This trend is for the girl who does not want to wear the ubiquitous camel this season, for the girl who can just cross ‘minimalist’ off her to-do list ... only she’ll use a highlighter to do so ...

  5. Accessories: Costume jewelry is having a moment. It seems that Coco Chanel’s old adage to “take one thing off before you leave the house” has been replaced by "put everything on before you leave the house.” And please, while you are at it, do break all the rules and mix big and small. Gold and silver. Costume with fine.

  6. Statement Sandals: Losing the platform is about as liberating as it gets. This season will mean a vacation from those turbo, sky-high shoes that tortured feet for seasons past. Next season, one can lean towards high heel sandals with kick but without having to lean against something for balance. What a novel idea!

    Tommy Ton / trunkarchive.com
  7. Red Lips: Move over stains and gloss. Lipstick is having a moment. Ditch your mother's lip liner, though. I recommend taking some time to try out the best shade for you. The red lips, like the girl who wears them, are never boring.

    Tommy Ton / trunkarchive.com
  8. Power Suits: Men’s suiting does not mean wearing neutrals and tweed (although don’t get me wrong, that will NEVER go out of style) but this season’s suiting is more high voltage. Colorful pants and jackets are to be mixed and matched.

    Tommy Ton / trunkarchive.com
  9. Throw Some Shade: For me, nothing signals the start of a weekend more than sunglasses! And if ever there was a season for sunnies this is it. And anything goes ...

    Tommy Ton / trunkarchive.com
  10. The Best Accessory: A Smile!: Just remember, you are never fully dressed without a smile!! Here, Arizona Muse, the breakout model from this season, shows us how it’s done.

UG ALL THE WAY

I have been listening to ma top ug jams.. en i must admit these are killa jams. bt as u no little foxes spoil the vine in this case ; videos dat most of our talented artists spend so much on.
1. The GALS.... seriously i dont know if the musicians/directors know why  video vixens are used, most cases they are used to tel a story, show a lifestyle en also disguise poor talent. Now in ug it is almost compulsory to have gals in the videos even wen it is clearly unneccessary making videos cheap en unprofessional so plis the nxt tym u opt for those gals, try to knock out the idea en invest in other neccessary props. dats how u stand out in the clutter.
2.wardrobe... F.Y.I most guys watch vidz 4 new fashion trends en styles. unless ur song has an 80s theme. u r forbidden to show fashion trends off season. plis invest in a fashion stylist/wardrobe manager
3. Swaggggggggg... as most define swag as Something We Africans Got doesnt apply to some of our dear acts. Dont not , en i Repeat Dont try to copy swag. swag is originality en creativity . if u love lil wayne , u dont hv to impersonate him. get tips from him en try to create ur own stlye from dat . u dont hv to copy his entire show, from tatoos to his presentation HELLLLO !!!! if i wanted to see or listen to lil wayne , i would do so. u can neva fill someones shoes . some are just too big to fill so plis let pple remember u for ur originality en creativity and not how u wd greatly fake an american accent even wen the whole country knows u hv neva , let alone studied the american accent. be proud of who you r. its ok pple will like you for who u r. if u look at the world's most influencial pple today , madonna, michael j and elvis presley u will definately no wat i am toking abt.
I believe dat we have some of  africa's finest musicians bt they are  blurred by many things and some written above. Accept positive critism , u no how the saying goes, 'THINK LOCAL , ACT GLOBAL' so the next tym u twist ur tongue, impersonate 50 cent, Jayz, Rihanna try to picture someone else doin dat. it definately makes us viewers sick to our stomachs . So plis save ur fans en fellow country men the constant trips to the wash rooms. Peace!!!!!

ABSURD

we all know that children are the most innocent human beings on this planet earth. Why in the world would someone man handle these precious gems? I know , u must be wondering why i am talking about this. Today , i was talking to my director and he showed me a clip of the nigerian christian massacre that happened recently. the highest number of victims were children as you will see in the clip below. Some of these children were asleep when all this happened.
This is an innocent child who can easily be manuplated... but they were killed. this video  is very disturbing.
so today i dedicate it to all those who died innocently in this massacre . May the Almighty God grant you an eternal rest. Amen
